With Every Heartbeat

sQuare productions is moving to San Francisco.
After 7 years in Boston, Massachusetts, — where we have based our film and other ventures — opportunity knocks and this time we’re going to open the door.
Speaking in Code director Amy Grill spent the last five years or so building up a television channel at Emerson College. This year, that channel was awarded best in the nation by ruling body AHECTA in the student production awards sponsored by mtvU. Just about the same time the award was announced super-cool TV channel Current TV came calling.
Current is redefining television with a radical take on programming. Available on most cable networks, tune in to experience a revolutionary blend of user-created content, quick takes on events of the day, fascinating Google statistics, comedy bits and cutting-edge documentary shorts. Even the commercials are interesting. And with programs that rarely run over 10 minutes long, it keeps your attention for hours.
It’s a perfect match for Grill, who’s commercial TV experience was limited but intense, and who’s academic career took a quietly-humming student operation and turned it into the best student TV network in the U.S.
The film is coming with us, to a certain extent. Our logging operation is making big strides and soon the editing will begin in earnest. Still a ways to go, still scraping by to get it done.
To be sure, we have a series of events to see Boston off right, from Basstown to Speaking in Code clip viewings to DJ sets.
Those sets are likely to include this track. A still-talked about song from Sweden’s Robyn, a massively successful dance act in her home country. Her last single, “With Every Heartbeat” continues to be rippling through the DJ scene.

The best remix comes from Kitsune troublemakers Punks Jump Up:
Robyn - “With Every Heartbeat (Punks Jump Up Remix)”
While dance mafioso Pete Tong has his take on it:
Robyn - “With Every Heartbeat (Pete Tong And Dave Spoon Remix)”
And the always-interesting Rory Phillips does a nice minimal remix of it:

Meanwhile, co-producer and sQuare productions’ own David Day has a new series at Pitchfork Media. Having written for the site back in the 1990s, Day returns with a monthly feature, where in the best DJs in the world offer an exclusive mix just for readers of the site. Pitchfork is firmly established as the Rolling Stone of our times, an authoritative source of music criticism which maintains credibility and style without compromising its integrity.
