Next Benefit / Radio Mix

Wow, this footage is amazing. Part of the joy of watching unedited tapes the seeing the adventure of getting this stuff on film. For one, our team walked through the red light district of Hamburg at about 4 in the morning, then climbed up hills to some chalk mines where some of our characters want to throw a huge rave, and then drove to the middle of the forest outside Jena to the communal Muna club (where they got a picture of our intrepid cameraman). And so forth and so on. The stories the images tell are even more remarkable of course.

We’re plotting our next benefit now, and it promises to be more live than anything we’ve done before. Pencil in August 26th at sQuareone. With more unseen footage, DJs and maybe a live set or two. Sign up for the email list (above, right) to be updated.

Locally, the DJ side of things is getting real smart. We’re taking it easy for the next few days but Thursday you can catch DJ DDay down at Bill’s Bar, at the new Throwed party which is put on by E-Marce from Paper. I know it seems like a drag to go down to Landsdowne Street but look at it this way: there’s no baseball game (so the streets will be clear), the crowd is totally live (and electric) and I’m spinning alongside the guys from BIG DIGITS who kinda rule.

(There’s no Make It New tonight in light of another visit from Boston’s Best DJ, DJ Kon. The full story on him is finally online here. He’s also DJing a free private event tomorrow — Tuesday. Click here to get on the list.)

So, Thursday, OK, maybe you’re busy. Fridays we go over to the Enormous Room and spin until 2am. Reggaeton, Baile Funk, Dancehall, Miami Bass and Patagonica, crazy good, most Fridays at PAN AM FRIDAYS.

And Saturday, if you’re still out and about, Erik and I are spinning at our friends house party, his birthday party, somewhere in the Central Square vicinity.

Nothing ever happens in Boston, eh?

Last Wednesday night, sQuare was interviewed and DJed live on Revolutions, one of the finest college radio shows in the U.S. It was a blast, albeit a little strange DJing to no crowd in a kind of hermetically-sealed DJ booth. Every mistake was pounding in my ear — made it out alive though. Thanks to DJ Gina Turner, Mike Davidson, Alden Fertig and everyone at WERS who stayed up late to make it all happen.

Here’s the mix, recorded live by WERS’ crack team of engineers. There’s some mix-ups, but what am I, perfect?
